The second instalment of the Dublin Trilogy continues to deliver what it started with "A Man With One of Those Faces," which I read last year. Once again, it feels authentically Irish to the core, and I find myself almost hearing the accent while reading it. While there is little character development, it's gratifying to see the familiar faces back in action, particularly Paul and Brigit. Bunny, however, is missing, and his part is mostly recounted retrospectively from some years back, when the story itself began.
The story starts amid the trial of three unscrupulous property developers, who are being murdered one by one in rather grim fashion. Justice in this case is being delivered by the mysterious Púca organisation. With the Gardaí running around in circles, whose job is it to solve the mystery?
