It's amazing to have our very own personal time machine. Obviously, it's not a one-size-fits-all solution. You can't transport objects or alter physical space, but that would be too good to be true. Now you might think I've gone completely crazy, but stay with me. What if I told you that you could go back in time 12 months and change one thing? What would it be? How would the different outcome affect your present self? I can't even count how many times I've wished to change something like this. Don't tell me you've never thought the same.
That's where the time machine comes in handy. It has just one (and a kind of important) twist. You can only change things today and look back at them from the future. Will you spend the next 25 minutes aimlessly doom scrolling through Instagram, or will you finally write that email you've been putting off for a long time? Will you turn on Netflix and binge-watch one of the countless TV series, or will you write that blog post to keep your blog going? Will you buy a lottery ticket or consider that money lost and transfer it to your investment account? Or are you going to mindlessly browse the internet instead of writing a to-do list for tomorrow?
It's your choice. Imagine yourself in the same situation you were in years ago. How would that one small decision have made a difference for your current self? Now, imagine if you used the time machine at least once every week for 12 months. Then, look back, using your time machine, and see if the old saying "you only regret the paths you didn't take, not the ones you did" still holds true.
"Great Scott!"
Just set the reminder for the same time next year.
PS: Now, it's only a matter of having the willpower. But that's for another time.
