The Husbands, by Holly Gramazio

Let’s pretend this is just another multiverse-inspired novel. The portal is an attic, and the only thing that changes are Lauren’s husbands. She starts out single.

The book felt a bit rough around the edges at the beginning, and the ending dragged slightly. But once you stop asking "why" and focus instead on the pursuit of unattainable perfection, it’s actually quite an enjoyable story. The attic works well as a metaphor for the endless scroll of Instagram — always showing you a better version of everything. Or for dating apps, with their constant swiping and the ever-present promise of something more.

I suppose I’m not quite the target audience, but there were one or two moments that genuinely made me pause and think.
